Folding tori and Chenciner bubbles in an ENSO model with delayed feedback

چکیده
We consider the sudden disappearance of stable invariant tori in a delay differential equation (DDE) model of the coupled El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) system. This phenomenon can be explained by the folding of invariant tori and their resonance tongues, which are associated with bifurcation structures referred to as Chenciner bubbles. We identify and analyse a Chenciner bubble and show how tori of the DDE break up and disappear as invariant manifolds. These results can be interpreted as a novel type of tipping, induced by the presence of multiple-frequency dynamics.

Resonances for weak coupling of the unfolding of a saddle-node periodic orbit with an oscillator
For a family of continuous-time dynamical systems with two angle variables, a resonance is a set of parameter values such that some integer combination of the (lifted) angles remains bounded for some orbits. For weak coupling of an unfolding of a saddle-node periodic orbit with an oscillator, it is shown that the low order resonances have at least a certain amount of bifurcation structure. Furt...
متن کاملStock Market Bubbles and Business Cycles: A DSGE Model for the Iranian Economy
T his paper investigates the movement between stock market bubbles and fluctuations in aggregate variables within a DSGE model for the Iranian economy. We apply a new Keynesian monetary framework with nominal rigidity in wages and prices based on the study by Ikeda (2013), which is developed with appropriate framework for the Iranian economy. We consider central bank behavior differe...

This paper investigates the relationship between monetary policy and stock market fluctuations for Iranian economy within a DSGE model. This study models the role of monetary policy in two monetary regimes including money growth and Taylor rule with traditional factors and optimal simple rule in the new Keynesian monetary framework with nominal wage and price rigidities in the Iranian economy. ...
متن کاملSentiment Shock and Stock Price Bubbles in a Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Model Framework: The Case of Iran
In this study, a model of Bayesian Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) from Real Business Cycles (RBC) approach with the aim of identifying the factors shaping price bubbles of Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) was specified. The above-mentioned model was conducted in two scenarios. In the first scenario, the baseline model with sentiment shock was examined. In this model, stock price bubbl...
متن کاملTowards a new model of speculative bubbles: nonparametric test with an application to the Tunisian Stock Index
Bubbles in asset prices have fascinated researchers in finance. Identify asset bubbles, by circumstances, on the stock market has been a growing number of research theoretical and empirical. On a theoretical level, it was assumed that the price dynamics reflect irrational behavior of economic agents and, therefore, should be excluded from a deal with the truly rational economic agents Burmeiste...
